Winter Money Earning Opportunities for Students

Winter Break is understandably regarded as a time of relaxation; a chance for students to step away from school and spend time with friends and family during the chilly, snowy days of early Winter. However, along Winter come some seasonal problems for Paterson residents - and some opportunities for students looking to earn extra spending money for the holidays. Because it is situated in the northeastern U.S., Paterson is especially subject to the harsh effects of snow, hail and freezing rain at this time of year. But what might seem like a chore when you are shoveling out your family’s driveway, parking space or sidewalk can be easily turned into profits if you set your sites beyond your own home. For one thing, shoveling out others’ driveways can be a quick way to make some fast cash. After all, people who must leave early for their morning commute find it a nuisance to spend precious time clearing the ice and snow from their driveways or parking spaces when they have other problems to worry about. All you need is warm clothing, a shovel (and perhaps one or two similarly-equipped friends) to set yourself up in the snow-shoveling business. If you do some research before the next storm comes and establish a competitive pricing policy, you will no doubt find plenty of people are willing to pay in order to have this job done for them, and on an especially snowy day, your business can boom. Not only does this help sustain a consistent flow of income, it can help build character and responsibility. A secondary service you can offer it to help people setting up (or taking down) their exterior decorations. Anyone who has attempted to set up outdoor decorations alone knows just how hard it is to keep a hold of an extensive and elaborate set of Christmas lights, or set up other large decorative items around their home. If you can make the extra effort and help people spruce up and decorate their homes, they will be more than happy to return the favor with cash. Again, just be reasonable about the price you charge. All it takes during the Christmas season is a little bit of extra work to make people’s lives a lot cheerier -- and your finances a lot better!
